Function and Duties

• The primary function of the organization is to collect Central Excise, Customs duty and
  Service Tax.
• Besides, different kinds of CESS, Additional duty of Excise, are also collected for the
  exchequer.
• Collection of duty is ensured by close monitoring, preventive checks and periodical 
  auditing.
• The Department also facilitates Export by sealing containers and packages under physical
  supervision.
• The Department has separate Legal wing to deal with Litigations in Courts and Tribunals.
  Assesses indulged in the evasion of high stake revenue are prosecuted.
• The functions are executed at the field level called Range Offices headed by
  Superintendent and assisted by Inspectors. The Range Officer reports to Divisional Officer
  who is of the Rank of Assistant Commissioner / Deputy Commissioner. The Divisional
  Officers report to Commissioners.
• Aurangabad Commissionerate consists of 5 Divisions and each Division consists of 5
  Ranges.
• At the Commissionerate level, the Commissioner of Central Excise is assisted by Additional
  Commissioner, Joint Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner
  besides other Executive staff and Clerical Staff. All the Officers assisting the Commissioner
  are given clearly defined work areas. The Commissioner reports to the Zonal Chief
  Commissioner.

Monthly remuneration received by each of its officers and employees, including the system of compensation as provided in its regulations (7th pay commission)

The Scale of Pay for a Commissioner is : Rs 1,44,200 - 2,18,200 (Level-14) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Additional Commissioner is : Rs 1,18,500 - 2,14,100 (Level-13) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Joint Commissioner is : Rs 78,800 – 2,09,200 (Level-12) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Deputy Commissioner is : Rs 67,700 – 2,08,700 (Level-11) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Assistant Commissioner is : Rs 56,100 – 1,77,500 (Level-10) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Chief Accounts Officer is : Rs 56,100 – 1,77,500 (Level-10) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Superintendent is : Rs 47,600 – 1,51,100 (Level-8) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance. (After grant of ACP. Grade Pay 5,400).

The Scale of Pay for a Inspector is : Rs 44,900 – 1,42,400 (Level-7) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance. (After grant of ACP. Grade Pay 4,800).

The Scale of Pay for a AO./ACAO. is : Rs 44,900 – 1,42,400 (Level-7) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance. (After grant of ACP. Grade Pay 4,800).

The Scale of Pay for a EA/Junior Hindi Translator is : Rs 35,400 – 1,12,400 (Level-6) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance. (After grant of ACP. Grade Pay 4,600).

The Scale of Pay for a Tax Assistant is : Rs 25,500 – 81,100 (Level-4) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a LDC. is : Rs 19,900 – 63,200 (Level-2) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Driver (Grade I) is : Rs 29,200 – 92,300 (Level-5) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Driver (Grade II) is : Rs 25,500 – 81,100 (Level-4) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Driver (Grade III) is : Rs 19,900 – 63,200 (Level-2) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Head Hawaldar is : Rs 19,900 – 63,200 (Level-2) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.

The Scale of Pay for a Hawaldar is : Rs 18,000 – 56,900 (Level-1) + Dearness Allowance + House Rent Allowance + Traveling Allowance.
